FAQ

Q: What are the differences between Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care?

A: Both Independent living and Assisted living offer housing and some support services. Their most notable differences, however, occur in the types and level of personal care services that they provide. Memory care is a long-term adult care community specially designed for residents  with Alzheimer’s disease, other related dementias, and/or cognitive impairments such as traumatic brain injury, within a secured environment.

Q: How do I know which type of community I will need?

A: When the time comes to begin thinking about senior housing, you will find there are many factors to consider. So many, in fact, it may feel overwhelming. Knowing the basic differences and similarities between all of your choices can help you make a decision that best meets your senior loved one’s needs, and Senior Living Advisors of Austin can assist you in identifying the most appropriate community.

Q: Do you work with all of the communities in Austin?

A: No, we only work with a select group of communities that we have personally screened to ensure that we only recommend the right environment for you.

Q: What is your process for working with seniors and their families?

A: We provide a thorough assessment of your needs (see our process here) through phone consultations, face-to-face meetings, thoughtful analysis, and community recommendations. We will also arrange the time for you to tour the communities we feel will meet your needs, and provide you with our help throughout the move-in process. Senior Living Advisors of Austin is your advocate every step of the way!

Q: How does Senior Living Advisors of Austin get paid?

A: Our fees are competitive for the service(s) we provide and are paid by the referred community, NEVER by the clients or families we represent. We always try to propose solutions which accommodate our clients’ available budgets and timescales, and we agree to disclose how our fees are paid to each client we assist (see our ethics and disclosure statement here).
